My story

GarnStories is a small artisan hand-dyeing studio located in a small town in Northern Germany. I launched my business in 2015. Back then, I was living in Hamburg, a large harbour city. My initial vision for GarnStories was to have an online shop for high-quality and hand-dyed yarns from all over the world. At that time, I still worked as a freelance copywriter (with the main focus on automobile content). Being used to work creatively, I soon started experimenting with colours and dyeing techniques - and was hooked right away!

In 2017 I moved from Hamburg to my grandmothers 160-years half-timbered house in a small town. For three years, we've rebuilt and renovated the house and set up a workshop in the former granary. I now have everything I‘ve ever dreamt of: A beautiful ample workshop space, a garden and nature right at my doorstep and fantastic support from a lovely people in town whenever I need it. With my move from city to small town, my colour sense changed, shifting from bright and bold to subtler and more muted.

The best thing about GarnStories is to see how fibre people all over the world turn my yarn into beautiful projects, telling stories with yarn and needles.
